My new computer ‘verve‘ has been installed. You can see it driving its two monitors. So far so good. Up next: I install OBS Studio and see which of my cameras work. Fingers crossed!

Cabling for ‘verve’ is done
Cables for ‘verve‘ are all in. Just gonna do one boot to make sure it’s all working and then I will put the new tower in its place (to its left, on the right of the bench).
On being ready
There’s nothing like being organized! There’s nothing like having the right equipment!
By my count I have 25 USB ports on the back of ‘verve‘ and I’m already planning to use 15.
Progress on lab upgrade
The lab upgrade is going fairly well. I have to say I’m a bit impatient for my ‘verve‘ hardware to arrive. The CPU is here, just waiting for the case, PSU, and RAM. And one of the PCIe adapters.
That bunch of cables on the floor is roughly where ‘verve’ will go when it gets here and has been assembled.
USB cabling for ‘verve’
I have the first draft of the USB cabling for ‘verve’.

Network upgrade
Added capacity for an extra six hosts on my LAN and now most of my network infrastructure supports 2.5Gbps ethernet speeds. And my janky rack is obsolete now.
The equipment is four TP-Link TL-SG108-M2 ethernet switches which I got from Amazon.
Oh, and I should probably mention that the TP-Link switches come with piddly little adhesive feet, but I didn’t use them, I got some of these big honkin’ ones instead: 25x Rubber Feet Pads Self Adhesive Isolation Feet Speakers Foot Shock Absorption. My logic is that more space between switches equals better cooling.
Cables, cables, cables
These are some of the cables I pulled out of the lab yesterday which haven’t been plugged back in yet. I’m just waiting for my new computer to be installed before I complete the cabling.
Lab mayhem
Man, my lab is in disarray. I’m getting ready to welcome my new computer ‘verve‘. Had to recable pretty much everything.
